Stéphane Poulain
I am a physicist and engineer with broad interests spanning fluid and solid mechanics, fluid-structure interactions, and capillarity. My research combines table-top experiments, theoretical analysis, and numerical modeling to gain physical insights into complex systems.
Currently, I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Manchester Center for Nonlinear Dynamics (University of Manchester), working with Draga Pihler-Puzović and Finn Box.
I received my PhD from the University of Oslo, working with Andreas Carlson on the coupling between viscous flows and capillary or elastic interfaces. I continued as Postdoctoral Researcher in the same group, studying vibrating elastic sheets as contactless suction cups. Before my PhD, I was trained as an Aerospace Engineer at ISAE-Supaero, France and completed an MSc in Civil & Environmental Engineering at MIT where I worked on surface bubbles.
